Rockstar Games appears to tease Red Dead Redemption sequel

lundi 17 octobre 2016

Rockstar Games tweeted a pair of images that appear to tease a sequel to the 2008 fan-favourite game Red Dead Redemption.

On Sunday it tweeted a simple image of its logo in black over a red background. The logo's burned-in aesthetic echoed promotional art for Red Dead Redemption, the 2008 open-world game that swapped Grand Theft Auto's modern crime setting for the Wild West.

It earned multiple Game of the Year awards in 2008 and is frequently cited as one of the best games of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 console generation.

The tweet accrued more than 103,000 retweets and 183,000 likes in a little over 24 hours, as well as excited exaltations from Lin-Manuel Miranda of Broadway's Hamilton, among others.

The company followed this up on Monday morning with an image of seven silhouettes over a blood-red sunrise.

The tweets come almost five years after the first announcement for Grand Theft Auto 5, which launched in 2013 and has shipped more than 65 million copies since.

In April, news surfaced that one of Rockstar's former producers sued the company for $150 million US in unpaid royalties and damages over allegations he was unfairly forced out of the company.
