Infusing a remake of the Western classic The Magnificent Seven with a fresh perspective was a job for the whole team behind the new Antoine Fuqua film, according to the American filmmaker and his star-studded cast.
Like the Hollywood classic, itself based on Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai, the new action film follows a ragtag group of seven misfit mercenaries hastily assembled to protect a small community from a robber baron.

"We were all collaborating and talking," Fuqua told CBC News during an interview earlier this month.
"When we'd all get together, we'd talk about scenes... It just happens. It's like a jazz band."
In the video above, the director and members of his Magnificent Seven cast, including Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'Onofrio, discuss working together on the western reboot.

The Magnificent Seven, which opened the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, hits theatres Friday.
