After a hectic tour, one that some claimed was a "national celebration," Gord Downie and members of the Tragically Hip took to winding down in a truly Canadian way — by taking a fishing trip along the James Bay Coast.
The band, along with Canadian novelist Joseph Boyden, was led along the coast by aboriginal guides.
On their arrival in northern Ontario, Downie took time to pose for pictures.
Catherine Cheechoo tweeted a picture of her standing with Downie, and said "& then this happened :O Much luv n thanks #GordDownie U r truly a kind soul."
